Windows OS:-

1: Run the Print and Scan Doctor

Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor to resolve printer hardware and connection

issues automatically

Click for Fix Scanning to test your scanner, and then follow any instructions.

Try to scan. If the error persists, continue to the next step.

2: Reinstall the printer driver

Resolve scan connection issues by uninstallation before reinstallation.

NOTE: Do not disconnect the network when uninstalling the software.

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer,

Open Control Panel.

Under Programs or Features, Uninstall a program to open the list of installed programs.

Click the HP printer name for the uninstall confirmation window, and then click Yes to complete

the process.

Make it sure the printer is turned on, cartridges are installed, and plain paper is loaded in the

main tray.

Follow the instructions at 123.hp.com to download and install the driver or app. During the

installation, select HP Smart to get the most out of your HP printer, and then follow the steps to

3: Now check Windows Image Acquisition settings

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is a Windows service which communicates between the

computer and scanners. If WIA is not activated, scan jobs mayfail.

In Windows, open View local services.

In the Services window, scroll down the list and find WIA.

Look at the Status and Startup Type values.

If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is automatic, WIA is running correctly.

Skip to the next step.


Mac OS:-

1: Reset the system

Resetting the system clears any error states by removing all HP and non-HP printers, print jobs,

and printer preferences.

Click the menu, and then click System Preferences.


Click to Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Right-click inside the Printers window, and then click Reset.

Click Reset in the confirmation window.

Enter the secret details, and then click OK

Try to scan. If the error persists, continue.

2: Reinstall the printer driver and software

Resolve scan connection issues by uninstallation before reinstallation.

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

Click Finder in the Dock.

In the menu bar, click Go-> Applications, and then open the HP folder.

If HP Uninstaller is there, double click it to uninstall , and then skip to prepare the printer.

Click and drag the HP to the Trash icon.

In the menu , click Go ->Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers,-> Go.

Click and drag the HP to the Trash icon.

Right-click ->Trash icon-> Empty Trash.

Prepare the printer & make sure it is turned on, cartridges are installed, and plain paper is loaded

in the main tray.
